WRINKLES OF TIME

Mar 25, 2011 by

I love wrinkles, they speak depth and experience to me, and, moreover, I have always had an affinity for Shar Peis.  The other day I saw an ad for Dove Beauty that showed beautiful women pointing to and explaining their skin wrinkles with pride, for they explained that with each wrinkle was a story.  Wrinkles, like beauty, are all in the eye of the beholder.   Samuel Ullman describes these earned wrinkles in better beauty than I possibly can.  “Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years.  We grow old by deserting our ideals.  Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.”

Wrinkles of the skin create generational connections and admiration; wrinkles of the soul, on the other hand, destroys a human being from the inside out.  Preventing the ugly wrinkles – the soul wrinkles – is easier than we might imagine: all we need to do is live our lives from our heart and with enthusiasm.

Redefine how you see the wrinkles in your life and on your body, for there is untold beauty in them that you have not yet discovered.   As you start to see the beauty in your own skin folds, your enthusiasm for life will shine and will be unable to be blown away.
