Episode 004: Farewell to Fear

Face the facts of fear:

▪   40% of what you worry about will never happen

▪   30% of what you worry about or fear are things that happened in the past and can’t be changed

▪   10% of what we worry about are considered by most to be insignificant issues

▪   12% of what we worry about are issues about our health that will not happen

This means that 92% of what we fear or worry about will never take place

Steps to overcoming fear of failure:

  1. Consider the cost of missed opportunities
  2. Research the alternatives
  3. Put the worst-case scenario in perspective
  4. Understand the benefits of failure
  5. Make a contingency plan
  6. Take action
  7. Burn the boat

Question of the episode: What fear is putting you into bondage?  What would happen if you stood up to your BIG HAIRY FEAR today, you know, the one that lurks in the back of your mind on a daily basis, and told it straight up that it is a liar and that, from today on, you refuse to believe the lie.

    Dear Trish,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for your podcast! I have really benefited already, especially by breaking up with stress. I also loved the ep on fear. I’d love to hear an episode on dealing with exhaustion. As a part-time working Mom I try hard to keep my priorities in order but I constantly battle exhaustion and it sabotages my mental and physical health regularly. I know I eat more and have a worse attitude and don’t sleep as well when I’m overtired so it’s a vicious cycle. Any tips or ideas?

    • You are amazing to have shared this feedback with me, thanks! I just emailed you a more personal response as well, but I totally feel you on the over-worked / overwhelmed cycle, and you’re right, it’s vicious. Podcasting on it tonight!

      Rock on!
