WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?

The key to authenticity lies in knowing why we do what we do.  If you don’t know why you do what you do or why you love what you love then you are missing out on half of the joy that comes from doing that very thing that makes you feel alive.

What makes you tick and WHY?

Simon Sinek is the king of probing readers to ask these “WHY” questions in his book Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, which I happen to be reading right now.  Essentially, he postulates that we can’t know how to do what we are meant to do in life if we don’t first know why we want to do it.  He backs up his statements with example after example of world leaders and great innovators who have changed history in spite of unlikely circumstances simply because they were all driven passionately by their why-factors.

Even if you think you know your why-factor in life, in business or in your relationships, the why-factor is and should be your core value that paves the way of everything you do.  Reassessing the role and congruency of your why-factor in your daily life is step of self-reflection that we all should be doing on a consistent basis.  So, today, take some time and think on why you do what you do.  Think about why you love what you love, and think about why you want your voice or your life to make a difference or leave a legacy in this life that you live.

One you ask why, ask it four more times and take it deep!
